Contextualisation

For more than a quarter (1/4) of a century, practically since the 1990s, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been facing a number of problems: large-scale conflicts, political and tribal-ethnic tensions, recurrent wars followed by acts of vandalism (looting, destruction, etc.), and the loss of its cultural heritage. from basic infrastructure and production units...). All this turbulence paved the way for political and economic instability. The boom in economic development was disrupted and wiped out.

The country also faces the challenge of global governance. For some partners (investors, donors, etc.), the DRC is classified as a high-risk country. Moreover, the population, exhausted and destitute by the horrors of war, has expectations. It is above all for the improvement of social living conditions (access to basic social services, employment, etc.) and to rekindle the hope of seeing the country finally take off!

Questioning

5. How can we obtain convincing alternatives for the investment guarantees that any serious investor would require (the prerequisite of peace and security; administrative and legal guarantees to encourage investment, etc.)?

6. What can be done to curb and/or eradicate the activism of armed groups, the rise in banditry and widespread insecurity?

7. How can the key sectors of the national economy be revitalised and modernised?

8. How can the Congolese people be awakened from their "somnolence and delusion"; how can citizens be put back to work, with increased and effective participation by women and marginalised groups, to increase production and thus influence the indicators of growth and economic development?

9. What can be done to ensure that the DRC becomes a Rights State that is accepted worldwide?

10. How can the DRC be placed in the orbit of emerging economies?
